Beating the Father Gasciogne (sp?) boss on the 2nd try because I had practices parrying on trolls gave me the confidence and ambition to struggle through the rest of the game. The moment I realized I'd be able to beat it is when I learned how to parry. When I got my PS4, the ambition to beat one of these games came to fruition with Bloodborne. At some point I briefly tried DS2 and quit, it just seemed impossible. The background is: I had been intrigued by the Souls series for a while given its reputation but always intimidated by its difficulty, as I generally don't go for that. Tl dr question is basically, how important is it to get parrying down to progress through the game? I wanted to get some opinions on the importance of parrying in the first Dark Souls game.
